“Implementing the new Reality” will be the main focus of the Energy Day´s fourteenth edition, the annual event organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, which will take place on September 30th at the Hotel Camino Real in Polanco.
This event has become a reference for professionals in the oil and gas industry and a greater attendance is expected to this edition, that is, between 400 to 450 of the most influential decision makers, opinion leaders, investors and customers for energy in Mexico – from the Government, PEMEX, CFE, financiers, risk specialists, and national & international energy companies and service providers.
HSBC, PwC, Cameron, Petrofac, Schlumberger, Shell, BP, KPMG and ERM will be among the leading companies sponsoring this year´s gathering.
The progress made since the event’s last iteration, the future challenges for sustainable energy, the main expectations from the new reforms, the future of Mexico’s resources, and the evolution of the energy sector across the region, will be among the main topics debated during the five different conferences and roundtable discussions.
A complete program of the event can be consulted here.
The British ambassador, Duncan Taylor; the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons (SENER), Lourdes Melgar; and the President of Shell Mexico, Alberto De La Fuente, will be opening the event before giving way to the first debate, under the name; “Upstream. How is the Energy Reform going to be implemented?”
The second debate will address midstream and downstream issues concerning companies wanting to do business in these sectors as a result of the Energy Reform, and as a continuation, the evolution of the electricity sector will take over on the third debate.
After a short break where national and international attendees will have a chance to tour the exhibition floor, the role of the regulators will be examined in a debate that will try to respond three fundamental questions: How are they going to work together and avoid the overlaps? Are they now empowered? Do they have full autonomy?
To close on a high note, a dialogue with Emilio Lozoya, General Director of PEMEX, and Enrique Ochoa, General Director of CFE, moderated by Alberto De La Fuente, President of Shell Mexico, will be held over the lunch, to go through the question of Mexico’s energy outlook after the Secondary Laws.
The event devotes ample space to develop networking activities with major industry players in the British and international oil and gas industry, some of which already have a significant presence in Mexico, while others have a special interest in the market. This represents a great opportunity for attendees to get involved in the industry, while realizing the main challenges and opportunities presented by the opinions of major industry leaders.
Energy Day 2014 will take place in the Mexico City Camino Real Hotel, located in Mariano Escobedo no. 700, Col. Anzures. A copy of Mexico Oil and Gas Review 2014 will be given out to all event speakers and roundtable participants.
