The Petroleum Exhibition and Conference of Mexico (PECOM) was inaugurated yesterday. It is one of the most important events of the oil and gas industry in Mexico.
The congress has been happening every year since 1994 in Villahermosa, Tabasco. “Every year it attracts more than 125 companies, representing over eight countries, that are presenting and creating opportunities within the oil industry as well as displaying the latest trends and developments” said Arturo Nunez Jimenez, governor of Tabasco, as he inaugurated the most important event for the state of Tabasco.
PECOM is the opportunity for the oil and gas industry to get acquainted with state-of-the-art technology and new processes. Innovation is the essential lever for the sector’s development,” the governor said before cutting the ribbon that marked the beginning of the three-day conference.
“It´s of great importance to gather all the companies that offer oil services in and to Tabasco, since this has been the number one oil city in the country, due to the richness of natural resources that we have, which at the end of the day benefit the entire country,” commented Jose Luis Aguilar, in charge for South Region of Pemex Exploration & Production.
Oscar Jaime Roldan Flores, Director General of Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos (CNH) added that Mexico is a rich country in oil, but in the future, it will be necessary to think about necessary restructuration of Pemex, to be able to confront challenges and demands that the country will face. “The NOC needs to know its strengths, use them and play them well. Events like PECOM help the Mexican sector to get more knowledge and information of what is happening beyond its frontiers. Adaptation is everything, we have to adapt to change,” he concluded.
